WhatsApp has introduced verified business accounts to its beta application for Android devices it's newly updated FAQ page reveals. According to the update, a minute number of companies and firms participated in the first test of this feature. The names of the companies were not revealed though.
Through this new update, genuine businesses verified by the chat service will from now be identified through a green checkmark beside their contact names. Just like the twitter verified account.
If a user starts chatting with a verified business account, messages that are inside yellow boxes will also appear, and when these yellow boxes are tapped, it will provide additional information about the business. According to whatsapp, there is no way to delete these messages.
However, the messages will also appear if the business is not yet verified, and the user will be warned about accounts that might be fraudulent and shouldn't be trusted. More information on any verified business account can be accessed via the Business Information section of the WhatsApp app.
If you have a business's phone number aleeady saved in your address book, the name you will see is the name you have saved in your address book. But if you don't have the business' phone number saved in your address book, the name you will see is the name the business has chosen for their WhatsApp business account. If you have established contact with a business, the only way to stop the business from contacting you is to block them.
This feature follows the series of new features which WhatsApp has been releasing over the past few months with the aim of appealing to the business world. Earlier this month, WhatsApp beta— the beta application of the chat service introduced peer-to-peer payments this is in a bid to deliver almost instantaneous transfers between individuals.
Also, the upcoming business-focused whatsap app will allow entrepreneurs to run two accounts of the app at the same time. With this business owners can simultaneously use both their personal and business accounts on the same device. More information about these new enterprise focused features of WhatsApp will be released to the public soon as the company moves closer to launching them to the global scene.
This surely is expectedly going to give WeChat a run for their money as it is the go to chat app for businesses.
